Does anyone have this, and like this?

I bought a bottle from a scratch and dent store for $3.20 (as opposed to what the label said, $12.95) and used a little bit as a leave-in. It smells very good - a sort of powdery pumpkin pie scent. It has no 'cones and no protein (all good for me), but lots of good oils (at least jojoba - can't remember the rest of the ingredients off the top of my head).

I only bought it because it was cheap, and I wanted to use it for a leave-in because of the scent...

I don't really know how effective it is as of yet, because my hair has been up all day.

Anyone?

I had talked to my husband about giving away all my heat styling things since I haven't used them in years and probably never will again.

It's official. My daughter has just become the proud owner of some very nice heat styling toys. :cheese:
My hair is all one length now, but I have a high forehead (a fivehead), ans the hair at my temples isn't as think as it used to be. I was thinking maybe some bangs with some layering in the front might make it look better. I have been looking for photos online of what I am thinking about but haven't seen a good example of long straight hair. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi all--this is my first post after lurking like a fiend for a considerable while.

I'm planning on henna'ing tomorrow and have been researching like crazy. Hairball test tonight (have had mehndi done on my skin numerous times so I'm pretty sure I'm safe) and then diving in tomorrow AM while DBF is still here to give me an extra hand. I'm using Afshan henna from the local Indian grocer (have 600g but I'm going to mix I think 400 to start and freeze the rest). My hair is 30" or so at the moment and incredibly thick and puffy--is that enough? Too much?

Mostly the question is--do I have everything I might need? I just went to Target and got: clarifying shampoo (I'm trying desperately to get off the 'cone train), 16oz of suave conditioner (because I have super dry hair already and I hear to literally use a whole bottle when rinsing out the henna), chamomile tea bags to make up the liquid, gloves, and a cheap mixing bowl/container with lid because we have nothing big enough to use in the tupperware staining sacrifice, plastic wrap (and a shower cap)....plus the stuff to make kimberlily's defrizz spray. I also have my jojoba oil to do a treatment after I rinse out the henna.

I don't want to be halfway in and have to run to the store on a busy Saturday afternoon with my head in plastic wrap and half dried henna. That COULD get interesting though.

So, words of wisdom? Last minute tips?

I have an affliction.... and I believe that a great many of us here at LHC have.

My hair is weighted down. It's so heavy and I have no curl, so my hair lies flat against my head. Ugh I really don't like it, I want some volume.... some root uplifting... but the only ways I know to achieve this are by backcombing (teasing) the hair which I REFUSE to do... we all know how horrid that is. And I guess the other way to achieve it is to use drying products.

I was wondering if any of you have any idea how I can get lift at my roots without damaging my hair.

To post your reviews!

We have an excellent resource on this site: the Reviews section.

If you haven't noticed it yet, the link is up there on your tLHC control bar thinggammy. See where is says "Home - User CP - All Albums" etc? It's the ninth link on there, between Articles and New Posts. Click on and have a look!

It is searchable, too, so you can quickly and easily find what you are looking for.

Currently, there are reviews of seventy different shampoos, one hundred and seventeen conditioners, thirty-five treatments, twenty-one styling tools and twenty-five hairtoys.

But we need more. A lot of these products only have one or two reviews, which is nowhere near enough to form an informed view of them.

So! Why not get on there, search for your favourite -- or least-favourite -- product, and post your opinion of it? If it isn't there, it is very quick and easy to post a new product.

Next time you need a new product, then, hopefully someone else will have been as good and have posted up a review to help you!

(Incidentally, if you want to review a dye other than henna/indigo/cassia/etc, I think the best place to put it is in "treatments" for now. )

Go forth, and REVIEW! :cheese:

I have been on LHC long enough to know all the reasons I don't need to feel guilty for not doing so.
But what are the good rebuttals? I am sure there have been tons written out before, but I can't find them.
I am planning to tell my friend 1 - to use his law schooling and do some research before he makes a recommendation, and 2 - to grow his own hair out!

My curly hair just looks so dry. I cut off about 4" (it was somewhat tapered, and I cut 4" at the longest point), which removed a lot of damage. But it still looks DRY.

I couldn't stand the crispiness of using gel, so I quit that recently, and have been using Suave green apple conditioner as a leave-in/styling aid. I do diffuse my hair at the roots for 2-3 minutes since I don't have time to air dry it in the mornings. I wet & condition my hair 2-3 times per week. Do I need to be getting it wet a lot more often than this to rehydrate it?

What is the best/simplest way to rehydrate it?
