I found these forums while researching henna and it's all very fascinating and a little overwhelming at times!
I've been chemically dying my hair and going to a salon for regular trims for a couple of years now. Before that, my trims were much more sporadic. However, after doing some reading, I'm looking to make some changes. My hair is curly and quite dried & fried after years of unintentional neglect. I look forward to doing the following:
Grow out chemically dyed hair and use henna only
Grow out layers, much much layers...
Weekly coconut oil treatments on the bottom half of my hair length
Transition to co-washing and only using clarifying shampoo before henna
Learn how to mircrotrim
Inadvertently save money by stopping salon hair cuts and dye jobs
Learn how to do pretty buns with hair sticks
My hair currently ranges from shoulder length to BSL. I'm hoping to grow to waist and reassess then. I'll see what length, hem, etc works for me.
Let the journey begin!

Re: Just starting off
Welcome to LHC :) You sound a lot like me when I got here! You might find my article on rehabilitating damaged hair in my siggy helpful, as it's, in part, about recovering from dye damage when I swapped over to henna instead :)

I hope you'll find what you want here and that you grow some gorgeous waist length locks! :flower:
Just a tip: Don't be upset if something doesn't work for you. There are lots and lots (and lots!) of ways to grow long, healthy hair!

Aderyn, thank you!
That's so true, that's the part that can be overwhelming! I'm just starting slow, seeing what works, and branching off if need be. I should be waist length by the end of the year, hopefully my ends hold up until I start microtrimming.
I'll be aiming for hip length after that, steadily chugging along!
