Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
This has been a sporadic issue here for me for a long time now.
Most recently, yesterday, I created a test post in a thread I currently subscribe to (Count to 50)
https://forums.longhaircommunity.com...7555&p=3934819
and this morning, 12 hours later, upon actually visiting the site discovered 6 new posts in the thread subsequent to my own. The last instant notification by email I received for this thread was two days ago.
Is anybody else having issues with their subscription notications by email or is it just me?
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
E-mail server issues have been an ongoing issue. ;) It's not new, and it looks to be far from over either.
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
OK thank you lapushka, that's good (I think) to know.
I'm also having trouble getting timely gmail notifications pushed to my so-called "smart" phone but that is actually a well known and entirely separate issue with Google/Android. At least my Gmail inbox contains the material I wish to be notified of. Here it exasperatingly does not so the only way to keep up is to actually visit making the whole idea of "subscriptions" rather pointless
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
foreveryours, I have just bookmarked the "new posts" search, and it gives me the threads I need to go through... every time. Now, I do read a lot, so there's that. I don't single out subjects, because to me... anything on here can get interesting. :p
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
I always go to "subscribed threads" (under "quick links") in the menu near the top of the page. I've never had problems with that failing to list a new post. Yes, it does require visiting LHC, but at least you don't have to look for each individual thread in case it has new posts.

This is what I do too.
There was a time before I worked out how to turn off e-mail notifications and I think it updated me the first time there was a new post, but wouldn't update again until after I'd visited and caught up. I wonder if that could be part of the issue? Edit: nope, that's not it, I've just re-read your post and realised I misread 2 days as 2 hours
Is there a setting for instant notifications / daily / weekly / etc.?

Yes, supposedly, if you go to the QuickLinks subscribed threads link, you can check subscribed threads in the notification column and for these Selected Threads do a bunch of stuff like move to folder, delete subscription, or update subscription type to Through my control panel, Instantly using email, Daily using email and Weekly using email.
I've only used through my control panel and instantly by email. While it's unfortunate notifications shut off

There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.
it's moreso they don't even turn on.
I've gotten ZERO notifications by email, instant or otherwise, for my subscription to this thread since I started it.
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
Any mods out there willing to address it?
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
FWIW, I just received my first "instant" notification for this thread about half hour ago. So it works, sometimes.
Re: Thread subscription email notifications are not reliable
uh oh, I just posted about subscribed thread emails THEN saw this post.
My issue is different but may be related, I have no idea.
I think I've been getting emails since March for a thread I don't think I subscribed to. At least I don't remember subscribing (or posting??). Click thru Unsubscribe gave me a weird error but visiting the thread says I'm unsubscribed anyway. I'm not sure if I'm subscribed or not. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
Maybe I subscribed by accident? (Perhaps reading the forum using my iPhone which I rarely do but can kinda see accidental subscribe happening that way, maybe?? Lol!) Or maybe there are more glitches than it seems? idk.
