Hi! and a couple of questions.
Hi.
I'm 16 and living in Dublin, Ireland. I have pretty short hair, but I love long hair and I'm trying to grow it out.
I was looking around the site earlier, but the acronyms are kinda confusing. Is there a thread somewhere that explains what BSL etc. means? They're kinda confusing...
And how do you measure curlieness? My hair doesn't have a set type. One day it will dry straight, the next day it'll be wavy, then the next it'll dry semi curly...
I think I've more questions, I just can't remember them
Thanks in advance to everyone!
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
Hi Aoife :) Welcome to the boards!
This thread explains the acronyms. If you're trying to classify your hair type, a lot of people recommend that you let it dry naturally, without combing or heat. Then you can get the best idea of its level of wurliness or curliness etc.
P.S. Galway here :waving:
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
Welcome. :)
There's an article here explaining the different acronyms:

BSL, for instance, means bra strap length.
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
Thanks for the links :)
I'll try the not combing. I can't use any form of heat on my hair (thankfully, saved me a lot of damage).
:waving: Hi fellow islander
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
:D Hello!
Yes, for hairtyping, let it drip dry with no product. Don't towel it, don't touch it, and the results shouldn't be too variable. :)
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
I'm sorry, this is such a stupid question, but would that not drip down and make your t-shirt all wet?
I always turban it, even on the few occasions it has dried before I brushed it.
This is silly as well, but would it not talk longer to dry without towelling?

Yes to both questions, which is why I only do it if I'm hair typing. To get an accurate look at the hair type, it helps to disturb it as little as possible. The turban would straighten extreme curl, I think, and give straight hair more curl, rather like bunning, I think.
It it rather inconvenient, though. On normal Wash Days, I turban it and then wrap a towel around my shoulders and let it hang to dry.
(And those aren't stupid questions. :))
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
Hi,
I do it the same way. I towel my hair for 10 minutes, and then I hang a towel on my shoulder (in winter, in summer I donīt need it).
Welcome to the LHC! Iīm a fan of Ireland and Dublin!
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
Thank you Renbirde! My hair hasn't been this curly since I was 12!
Thank you everyone for the welcomes .
Re: Hi! and a couple of questions.
If you haven't found it yet, the article on classifying your hair type is here. :)
