I detest those popups. It is a function I can enable with these links, but I wouldn't do that to you guys.
It's good to see you, Kat.
Re: Have You Noticed the New Links In Posts?
I did notice the new links randomly popping up. Ive clicked on a few on them but they never go anywhere. It says "Safari can't find this page" or something along those lines.
Re: Have You Noticed the New Links In Posts?
After experimenting with this, I've decided to disable the automatic word links (SkimWords) for members. Some of the links were pretty funny (squatty potty and peg leg pirate costume ), but it felt like ad overload to me.

Were they actually generating income?

They were a little bit.

Have you considered memberships? Not for the entire site, but say, members get photo albums, more PM storage, whatever?
I'm a donor, but I'd happily pay an annual something, especially if levels were involved. My personal comfort would come in near $25-45, or a lifetime membership of $150 or so. And that's maily because I'm on shaky financial ground at the moment with Kidlet's schooling and some other big expenses.

It is happening with me now also.

The links, as far as I know, do not generate revenue via clicks. The software links the words with various affiliate programs and for those to pay out, someone usually has to buy something.
I'm sure there are people here concerned about hairloss, so the Rogaine ad might be helpful to you and them. I don't know, I'm new here.
Re: Have You Noticed the New Links In Posts?
The banner ads really aren't that bad. About the only things that would genuinely annoy me are pop-ups and video ads that slow my computer, so as long as it doesn't get to that, I'm good. ;)
