In some DIY recipes from the Capillary schedule, I saw they use panthenol as humectant and I wonder if some of you have ever tried that instead of honey or glycerin.

I hear it's pretty nice for the face, that and niacinamide.
I have never tried it on hair, though. Not even hyaluronic acid.
I do have to say, I hate experimenting. LOL My days with that are definitely over.
I do wonder about this all!
I've tried adding panthenol (75% water solution, bought from a shop that sells ingredients for people who like to make their own beauty products at home) to a deep treatment and to a shampoo, and I've also made panthenol rinses. Unfortunately, it did nothing, thought it should work as a humectant, in theory. It does work for some people, though :)
I’ve never used it and was looking into purchasing some for homemade conditioner and it is expensive!! At least the stuff that I found
I do know that The Ordinary has something for hair right now. I might one day try that, but home-experiments are no longer for me, I'm afraid. I wish they'd bring something like that on the market though. Then I might try it!
Other than that, very curious to hear about more experiences with panthenol. It's even often a struggle finding that in my skincare! Let alone haircare (it's non-existent there I think to this day).

Well, I've heard this was a good idea, so I tried it myself. Unfortunately filling my DIY coronavirus face mask with panthenol made it hard to breathe, so I had to give up on that idea. Which is a shame because the skin on my face feels amazingly soft now.

I added panthenol to conditioners and shampoos. For me, it was softer than glycerin. My hair doesn't like it now, and even a small amount of glycerin keeps it wet. Panthenol didn't work that way. In my opinion, it's worth trying. You can always use it for face or hand creams.
