How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
How long does it take for your hair to dry naturally without a blowdryer? For me, it all depends on the type of water that is on my hair. If I've been swimming in the ocean, my hair can literally be dry in like just 10 minutes, the salt content really dries out my hair! If I've been at the pool, well I shower right after but I notice even after I shower off the chlorine still dries my hair a lot faster than on days I have not been swimming. I will always do a CO after a swim and also every night. It takes about half an hour for my hair to stop dripping, then it will stay damp for over 3 hours before it fully dries, so it takes about 4 hours total to dry my hair.
In the winter, it could take actually over 5 hours for my hair to dry naturally. This is the season where I will actually blow dry just enough so that I speed up the process. I will almost always air-dry during the spring and summer unless I'm purposely blow styling my hair.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I'd say about an hour for me -- sometimes more, sometimes less, depending upon how hot or cold a day it is.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
To naturally air dry thoroughly, it takes my hair 4 hours. :) It's worth the time though, because it's so much healthier.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I haven't measured the time accurately, but I'd say it is between 2 and 3 hours. It feels like forever!
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
between 2-3 hours. If it's really humid, longer.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
My hair is extremely thick, so it takes >5 hours. The front pieces dry within half an hour, the roots within approx. one and half hours, the majority of the length and tips within 3 hours... but there is this annoying bit of hair at the back of my head that can take overnight, and then a few hours to get completely dry. weird.
Once I tried wearing it in a bun after washing, and took out the bun after two days. The inner layers of my hair were still damp. Very weird.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
It takes about 1-2 hours for me to naturally dry my hair as they are fine-medium thick.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
It takes about an hour to an hour and a half. When it is hot out, less, in the winter, more. :)

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
In the house, with no assistance, it takes every bit of 3 hours.
Out in the sun, it takes about 2.
This is why I rarely air dry my hair. I usually damp bun.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
With no help, five hours minimum. It will look dry around the three hour mark but it's still damp underneath for another couple hours or so. In the winter, it will be a little longer. The joys of thick hair. :)

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I would geuss about 4 hoursif it has been down since i got ot och the shower, but rarely let my hair air dry down if it hasnt been in bun or braid for a cuple of hours. I hate geting my clothes weet because of the fact my hair is weet so rather take longer drying time.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
2-3 hours for me. I think styling products slow down the drying speed for me.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
It usually takes from morning until lunch time for me. I never blowdry even in winter, unless I am going to have to go out with very wet hair in the freezing cold for >30 minutes.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
This is what confounds me about my hair... Upon observation it doesn't appear thick. (No special scrunchies needed) However it takes hours and hours to air dry or to do any kind of braiding or styling and it's very heavy and hot under here.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
It already takes 2 hours for my hair to dry completely and its not even shoulder length yet. I cant imagine how long it will take if i ever get it to grow out to my goal length. (WAIST):(

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I depends on what I put in it and on the humidity that day.
Gel takes a lot longer than if I leave-in conditioner. Other leave-ins (don't use any currently) can take even longer. if I put nothing in my hair or just oil it dries in 45 minutes! Usually though, between 1-6 hours.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
about an hour for me until it gets longer :)
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Mine takes 30 min. to half-dry but is still a bit wet after one hour.
So I think a bit more then one hour :)
My hair is mid-back ii :)

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
About 3 hours which after the shower I put an absorbant towel over my hair without twisting the whole strands instead of without air drying! I do air dry my hair naturally without blowdryer! I only put the towel of my hair for 15 minutes, then remove and pat lightly on hair again for about 1 minute and flip hair front and back to get rid of excess water!
But as naturally, it's about 3 hours to dry!
I do a trick of putting my whole hair inside without bending over with my hair in front of me! I stand up straight take my hair and twist about maybe a bit/ not much, and then over my head! Looks like it's shorter because without the bending! Then put it over my hair, great technique with medium length towels instead of long!

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Mine depends on what I plan on doing with it, whether damp buns/braids, fully drying before putting it up, weather conditions, location I'm at while it dries, etc. I'd say somewhere between 1-3 hours. That's a rough guess though.
This thread was of similar ilk.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Two hours gets me to everything-but-the-nape dry.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I try to wash at night and it's dry by the morning, but when I occassionally wash and dry in the day I'd say about 4 hours, more if it's cold weather.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I voted 2-3 even though it can sometimes take longer. It really depends on how much water is absorbed by the towel before I take it off. And humidity...humid days mean a longer drying time. :(
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
It takes me between 2 to 3 hours, depending on the weather outside and the current moisture content of my hair. If my hair is dry, than it dries faster.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
If I don't touch it at all it takes between 4 and 5 hours.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I picked over 5 hours because its taking 6-7 hours at the moment for my hair to dry, its winter here at the moment and it takes forever, especially if its raining out! In summer if I'm outside it can dry in as little as 1-2 hours which I love, can't wait for summer :p

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Loose, it will take around 4 hours to fully dry.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Isn't there already a thread on this?
Mine takes all day to dry, so way more than 5 hours. :wail:
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
My hair actually takes less time to dry now that it is healthier, but it still feels like forever when it is loose.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Usually about 4-5 hrs, but sometimes it take's longer. :undecided

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I normally take a shower about an hour or two before I go to bed. I plop from when I get out of the shower until right before I get in bed, then when I wake up it's dry. If I wash my hair in the morning, it takes from 3 to 4 hours at least.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I don't consider my hair to be thick but it takes about 4-5 hours before it's completely dry (if left loose). After CO wash it can take up to 12 hours especially if the weather is humid. If I damp bun, it takes forever to dry. Actually it doesn't dry at all until I take it down! I'm not so sure about the benefits of damp bunning so I don't do that very often...
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
I answered 2-3 hours but that is dependent on leaving it loose and combing a couple times while drying. If I braid or bun it can be days. If I go outside on a sunny day or sit in front of a fan/electric heater, maybe an hour. 30 min or so if I partially dry with a blowfryer.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
My hair takes about 1 1/2 hours to dry, under a fan in relatively low humidity. It's at APL now, I can't imagine how long it will take when I reach my goal! (TBL)

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
My hair takes around 4 hours to fully air-dry.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Typically about an hour. It used to take much longer when I was a teenager, but I think because my hair has thinned so much over the years, the drying time has doubled.
-
Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
When I lived in Utah it only took 45 minutes or so on a hot (>100 deg F) dry (5% humidity) day :)
Under 'normal' circumstances it's more like 1-2 hours though.

Re: How long does it take for your hair to naturally air-dry?
Depends. Normally it takes little more than one hour. But when I let it dry in a bun or a braid, it could last the whole nigt.
