My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
As there have been a lot of people raving about how castor oil massaged into you scalp at least a couple times a week helped their growth rate i decided to give it a try as i thought it might help with my dry scalp.
I have been applying a mixture of castor/grape seed oil between 3-5 times a week as its really helped my dry itchy scalp if i don't do it now my scalp itches like mad.
Anyway to the pictures.

Here's the link to the castor oil thread if anyone wants to know more.
I can DEFINITELY see a difference. Now I feel bad about skipping my castor oil treatment this week. Heh... woops.
Will you tell us what your castor oil routine was? :)

It can't only help i'm not sure if its the oil or the fact your massaging your scalp which promotes growth apparently.

Its easy to do sometimes but as its helps my dry scalp i have been doing this nearly everyday,
Will you tell us what your castor oil routine was? :)
Sure no problem, i put equal measures of castor oil and grape seed oil in a bowl and massage in to my scalp quite firmly in the morning the massage takes between 5-10 minutes and then wash it out by CO in the evening.
This doesn't make your roots greasy as i still only shampoo my hair once a week.

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Your hair looks wonderful! Your hem looks thicker congrats!
I have been using cater oil myself for about a month but only once a week
the night before a wash, I haven't noticed anything yet my hair does feel longer
but I haven't really measured and I micro trim monthly too
I'm impressed with your hair though your layers seem to be catching up really nice!
Growing out my layers is my main reason for using caster oil that and growing new hair!! ;)

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Thank you for posting!! Your hair looks longer and thicker. I've got to be more committed to my castor oil regimen. It really works.

Awesome! Looks like it's working...

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Just when I say I'm going to calm down and stick to benign neglect someone has to make a post like this and I'm back on the castor oil bandwagon. I too feel guilty for skipping it this week. I see a change in your hair!

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
I've tried castor oil and I agree that it helps with thickness. It took more than 2 months for me to see results so its great that you are seeing results so soon! Even after 6+ months I am still getting an increase in thickness so I definatly reccomend you stick with it :).

wow! your hair looks so lush now :). I love castor oil if only it didn't give me blocked pores!

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
I've been using castor oil* twice a week, and I've had a noticeable increase in the density of my hair at the scalp. I don't have nearly as much scalp cleavage as I did even a month ago. Yay castor oil!
* I mix my castor oil with Mega-Tek and Nightblooming's Triple Moon Hair Anointing Oil, and sometimes a bit of Monistat. So, I don't have any proof that the castor oil is what's helping...however, I've been using the MT and MN for about a month longer than the castor oil, and I didn't see any results until I added it to the mix :)

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Jumping on the castor oil bandwagon since I have excess that I grabbed from Whole Foods for experimenting with OCM. Doesn't hurt to give it a go :p

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
I am impressed about the results.
Please let me know how you apply it, if you don't mind sharing.
I can't imagine how to do it for not looking greasy. It looks always greasy when I do it.

Thank you. I just mix the oils together after warming them slightly and dip my fingers in the oil and just massage it into my scalp but i always CO out in the morning, as i have heard you shouldn't leave oils on your scalp as it can upset the ph balance of your scalp don't know if thats true though.
Even though i do these between 3-5 times a week i still only shampoo my hair once a week as my hair doesn't get greasy apparently CO is the best thing to get oils with.

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Thank you I will give it a try on the weekend. :flower:

I apply it at night and wash it out in the morning, because it would look super super greasy if I didn't do it! I find castor oil (even mixed with another oil) very heavy, and ordinarily I'd only very lightly oil my hair if I was wearing it during the day.
Also, I only put the castor oil on my scalp, but it does smear around my head so my head is a greasy mess! I cover my pillow each time I do it too ;)

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
I have kind of the same problem Mesmerise. But I wash in the evening, so I cannot leave it on for more than 2 hours.

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Thats a shame that makes it more of a pain for you.

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
After reading this I too mixed some castor oil with sweet almond oil and applied to my scalp. Since I work at home and wear bandannas all the time I left it on for almost 4 days. The results- My hair was 31 inches and then I got the dead ends trimmed off on Feb 25, 2 inches total which put my hair to 29 inches. I measured on March 15 (Tuesday), the day I put the castor oil on and I was up to 29 1/2 inches. When I clarified on March 18 (Friday) my hair measured 30 inches! I am pretty excited.
I have been drinking Diatomaceous Earth (DE) since January 24 and on most days rubbing a little bit of sweet almond oil on my ends. Before I shampoo, I put coconut oil on the length and do a scalp massage with salt, almond oil and baking soda and I only shampoo once a week with Burt's Bees.
SO.....not sure what or if it is a combination but SOMETHING is working!

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
This is encouraging.
I am going to start mixing my castor with a lighter oil as castor alone is a pain in the butt. :D I have some EVOO.
I think I will apply it every 2nd or 3rd day, at night, then wash out in the morning. I can't apply it every day as my hair WILL look super greasy.

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
I see incredible growth and your hair looks a lot thicker too....way to grow!
-
Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
im going to try the caster oil /grapeseed oil mix until the bottle is gone then switch to either almond oil or coconut oils.

thank you for sharing your results

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
so I've been reading all about castor oil lately and I was going to go out and buy some when I realized that my coconut oil I just bought (made by Hesh) has castor oil in it. Has anyone tried this stuff? I'm going to put it on tomorrow, I was just wondering. Also it sounds like I may have chosen correctly with my first bottle of oil, since it seems most people dilute their castor with another oil.
:) I'm such a newbie haha

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
YES big difference. How do you do your oiling? What oil do you use...I need some NOW LOL X

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Just thought I would jump on the bandwagon here :)
I wanted to post (for anyone interested) proof that something is working, and I really think it's the castor oil. I am a seeing is believing person myself, so seeing these little sprouts on my head is very exciting!
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6129/...c14d326e0c.jpg
The only new things [other than switching to no cones] that I have been doing of significant difference is Castor oil with a drop of Lavender EO every three nights before I wash in the morning. This process has been 3 weeks in the making!
I upend the bottle onto my fingertips, watch some t.v., and just massage slowly all over my scalp, reapplying as necessary to cover my whole scalp. I then coat the length with good smears of coconut oil (since I read it's more effective to penetrate the cortex as a pre-wash, than post-wash). Throw it all up into high bun on top, and wash out the next morning.
Oh.... I am taking Nettle 300mg 2x a day, but I am convinced the Castor oil is making this difference. :agree:

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Wow. Can I say, from someone who usually just lurks, that I really love seeing posts like these, full of success, especially when you're questioning what you're doing, it's so nice to come on here and get reassured that your hard work will pay off!

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Busybee, after 3-4 weeks of castor oil, I have a head full of sprouts like that, too! It's really exciting, isn't it?! <3 :-D

Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
What's your method archel?
-
Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Every other night on wash nights, I massage the blend I made into my scalp before bed and then wash it in the morning. My blend is 50/50 castor and grapeseed oil and 10 or so drops of lavender/vanilla EO and helichrysum EO. It feels wonderful and it's working!
-
Re: My castor oil experiment results after 4 weeks (pics)
Yes I do see a difference. I have to try this. This method looks very promising. I have to read up on it.. Is it the massaging action that makes your hair grow? Or the castor oil itself?

Archel: Thanks for the compliements. I have spread my pic and goodwill across many posts so hopefully different women will see results, not just a lot of talk.
Anywhoo - do you put any of the castor oil on your length? If so why, and do you see a difference in your hair in any way from this specific treatment?
