Hello everyone! Nice to be part of this group. I want to tell you my story. My name is Cristina, I am 27 years old. I never had very long hair (maximum lenght has middle back) because I always dyed my hair in red/copper (no bleaching) and because I did not know how to grow it..or did not care for that . I startet to dye it around 14 years old. The color suited me very nice and I never liked my natural color. I always had a thing for bright colors. My natural hair color si medium brown I believe and it is natural a bit wavy. It always had a subtile red undertone so it was very easy for me to keep it copper/red. For 7 years I've been a redhaid (except for a one year break when a dyed it brown and let it grow without dye) Photo here - the bottom half it's a bit lighter because it is where the dye was, and the top half is my natural hair:

My red hair used to look like this:

And I loved it. But then I made the biggest mistake...I went blond, platinum blond (not by choice...I wanted something darker but the hairstylist bleached the hell out of my hair) and I love how the color looked on me. But from that point, my hair lost it's wave and got shorter and shorter because it snapped. I used expensive professional products and did masks and all kind of treatment, but nothing helped. Photo with my first day of being blonde + a hair cut:

After 3 years I decided I want my hair back...I want to grow it long, healthy and quit the blonde (even if I like it a lot, my hair can't bear it). I've been dyeing my hair with box dye for so many years and my hair felt great, when a bleached it to blonde....boom, I ruined it. Now I have blonde hair and dark roots, and I can't leave it like this for years to grow the blonde out. I never liked having 2 colors in my hair. I was thinking of going copper with henna...but I know that my roots will not be lightened and I don't know what to expect for my hair. Since I have bleached lenghts, they will be orange and the roots auburn?
I've started using natural masks, and decided to dye my hair with henna someday...but I don't know if a should lighten my roots with a ammonia free dye, or if I should leave them like this.
If there is someone who had a similar experience or anyone who has advices, opinions, it would help me a lot
Thank you!

Welcome, check out the henna threads first for more details before you make any decision about henna, because it’s permanent and a huge commitment. Here’s Nightshade’s henna article that’s quite comprehensive for beginners.

Howdy, nice to meet you : ) Your second post photos show up just fine.
You're correct that, if you used henna on your whole head right now, the bleached lengths would go quite orange and you would wind up with a hard delineation between that section and the darker roots. (My guess is that your natural color is too light for you to get a proper "auburn" on the roots either, at least with one application of straight henna.) But there are lots of folks on here who are growing out dye or bleach and would have better advice than I do for transitioning between colors. If you go to the "sticky" in the newbie forum there should be a link to a long-running "growing out dye" thread to which people add on all the time.
