Actually, if you pretreat with coconut oil (say overnight), bleaching is less damaging.

I had almost black henndigoed hair which I bleached three times, cutting off the green bits as I went. Which is as horrible as it sounds. It is possible to de-green with benzoyl peroxide somewhat but you need the patience of a saint as many applications are needed - I envy you that you've just used henna.

Once I was done bleaching, I used a light brown chem dye, and I currently have light golden brown hair, although the henndigoed parts are still darker than the natural + dye parts. My hair's shorter now though - so if you definitely don't want to bleach or cut you may have to have it a little darker than you'd like.

Unless someone comes up with a fabulous new idea.

NB: Avatar colour was me playing around with Manic Panic Vampire Red, but the light brown is in my albums.

    Have you tried John Freida?

If you decide to put the color back in your hair after removing the henna, I recommend a deposit only hair dye that is amonia free like Natural instincts from Clairol. They say it's semi-permanent and will wash out, but you can slow down the fading with a sulfate-free shampoo. And honestly I used Natural Instincts (black) and I had to bleach my hair 2-3 times to get the black out, so that's my experience.

I'm going through the process of getting rid of henna too, but I absolutely refuse to bleach my hair in any way shape or form so I'm just growing it out (Giving up the dye/bleach and growing out natural? Share your progress.).

    Good luck!

Yeah, I almost used indigo in my hair...thank god I didn't! Lol

Right now it is maybe slightly darker than I wanted, but after I do this whole light brown dye thing I'm gonna go through and do highlights with the good ol' fashioned Frost and Glow kit (slow and subtle bleaching). That'll be less wear and tear on my hair. Hooray!

I used the UK version colour B4 yesterday and left on for 2 hours, I have noticeable change. I had done 4 honey treatments prior in the last 2 months but for me the Colour B4 has faded my hair from dark chestnut to a strawberry blonde. Now if this darkens in the next week or so I dont know but I plan on doing another treatment at the end of the month. No damage to report either, just a little drier at forst but a good conditioner sorted that out
