and are you using the 2% or the 4%?
wow - that's quite a bit of growth!
wow that is great !
I have done it in the past. I got 1 inch in a month with 3 applications diluted one once cream to about 1/3 cup warm water leaving in on 2 day's. 3 applications a week. It got to expensive to I stopped. I want to start again now!

3 applications a week got too expensive for me too... plus necessitated too much hair washing. However, I may re-start with 1-2 times a week... it's summer and hair is supposed to grow faster, no? Maybe these two things combined will get me to an inch a month?
I think maybe the massage helps a lot too.

I've just read all 48 pages and while I'm tempted, I'm not ready to jump on the bandwagon. Sedonia's post is causing me to be cautious. As i sit here right now, I'm considering giving it a shot and if it works, using it only until shoulder length is achieved. ON the other hand, admitting that I'm even considering it makes me feel a little crazy.
I'm going to go read the archived thread before deciding but I do have one question that doesn't seem to have been answered here.
I've never had any "fungal problems" anywhere ... no recurring anything really. I'm wondering if this "treatment" won't be as effective (someone in a very recent post raised this issue and it's what I've been thinking about since page 22 or so - I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.)
I may have answered my own question.
Velvettt, on the old thread, at post 644 says that in reading another MN thread on another forum reported that the consensus of experimentation since 2003 is that the results are 50/50 amongst users, with those who already have healthy scalps experiencing little to no extra growth.
Who knows what my scalp health is! I know I experienced drastic improvement in the quality of my hair once I stopped blowdrying and using silicone-based products. But as for my scalp? I don't have dandruff or other flaking/itching problems so this might not work for me. Nevertheless, I'm going to embark on a short experiment to see if this will help me get to chin length.
lawyermom- I thought I had a very healthy scalp as well, but it has really been working for me. I did have problems with dandruff or possibly product build up at times, but now my scalp is very healthy. I would recommend you try a 2% to see what you think.
I know that other people haven't had much success with the Dollar General brand, but it is working well for me and it is only $5! Have you tried the less expensive brands? I am not sure that I could do 3 applications a week and the full price of $13/ tube. I am something of a cheapskate and I just cannot justify that!
Does anyone know if the mineral oil is bad for the hair? I have been doing the night before a wash, so I'm not going out of the house with it like people are able to do with the name brand.
I will say that my normal growth runs about an inch a month (specially during the warmer months). In the winter I am usually at 1/2"+.
I just want to add that my scalp is now the healthiest that it has been in forever. I have had sebum issues, dandruff, and sebaceous cysts forming along my hairline (gross I know). I have been embarrassed about that for some time and have tried everything including a dermatologist trying to fix it. I have used prescription poos, oral acne meds, but nothing touched the cysts paticulairly. Somehow, the Monistat has cleared all of that up. I have started to CO which may be helping the pH, but still in 3 weeks time my scalp is entirely different. I am a bit itchy, but learning how to scritch has helped with that! I feel like a new woman! A new woman with an extra inch of hair! Whoohoo!
