FrannyG uses or used L'Oreal Preference.

It is generally recognized not to colour the entire hair reach time it is coloured.

Results can include more intense colour where it is not wanted.

Here is a link on doing roots, http://www.typef.com/article/dye-roo...dye-rest-hair/ although the root touch up kits available have an "easy" comb to use, http://www.makeupalley.com/product/s...rol/Hair_Color

And here is something hairstylists can offer for adding colour contrast to darker shades of colour, http://www.lorealprofessionnel.com.a...runes2.aspx?tc=&
"- If you want a touch of colour, whilst preserving your natural tone, Maji.contrast lets the hairdresser place colour (on the ends, on a few meches, over the surface), without pre-lightening and never extending the colour to the roots, for an intense and lasting result thanks to its Hi.Chroma ™ content (ultra chromatic colourants)."

    Post on Majicontrast here, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...8090949AAtVUNw

Great Utube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOW51iwYopw with Majicontrast with one very interesting note - she used 10 volume peroxide when she did the rest of her hair, not the 40 volume she used for the regrowth.

Is there a list of hair dyes that have worked well with this method?

Sometimes you need to go crazy to stay sane.

Some are listed by name - others by type, semi, demi, permanent and bleach, and reports include volumes of peroxide used, http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...postcount=1120

    Hey! My name's Iqra.
So i read MOST of this thread. And i have a few questions.
    1) Will this work on re-bonded (relaxed) hair?
    2) Has anyone reported pre-oiling with coconut resulting in no damaged with a vol 40 developer?
    3) Will this method work on professional dyes, The ones in which you buy a separate developer and such? (Eg L'Oreal HiColor?)
I've a natural level 2 hair color, Its a DARK brown. Looks black in low light but in sunlight it looks VERY brown. I got my hair relaxed 7 months ago and it kinda fried the front parts of my hair. As in, they are really frizzy, dry but after 7 months it ALOT better.
Im going from level 2 to level 6. Thats a lift of 4 levels. So ill be using the 40 vol developer. But i dont want to damage my hair. Im so glad i found this thread. Please reply.

You need to take the condition of your hair into consideration before doing more chemical services to it.

That said, see Mixes in this post http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...postcount=1120.

The post contains almost all of the reports here (I am no longer updating it).

Like the Honey thread, the first post of this thread has been set up to make navigating the issues here easier.

There are a number of posts that may be helpful and answer questions people have about using coconut and argan oils to help prevent peroxide damage and explain why it is possible.

I no longer have the time to update either thread.

Thought I would post my results. Im pretty happy with the coconut oil pre-soak. Pictures to show results

Both pictures are with the same hairdresser and the same bleach. (yeah I know, nobody in there right mind would go back after the 2008 disaster)

No matter how much you hate your hair someone wishes they could have it!
