thanks ladies, but I think I'm going to shampoo (SLS free) as I haven't tried CO yet and don't think it's the best day to begin

Glycerin is a good alternative. I saw it in a plastic plain bottle in the first aid isle @ pharmacy. I had to really really look for it. Costed about the same as aloe gel.

Omg I found a bottle of Revlon Flew in the cabinet!!!! I was searching everywhere in the house today for cone-free stuff and found the Flex!! Since it's not on the list, I will report back house it works. Man, my hair was a tangly mess trying to work it in, though.

I did an SMT last night with Aloe Vera gel from a plant and it worked great. It wasn't rubbery like the caution said it might be. I wanted to try it because it doesn't have alcohol in it (obviously) like most store brands. I might be buying an aloe plant soon (I used my aunt's this time).

I tried SMT - AWESOME! Strange thing is that, it mixed well with Faith in Nature Ginko biloba conditioner, but didn't mix that well with Faith in Nature seaweed one. I have a question, does honey lighten hair if you put it in conditioner?

BeatlesFanGirl, it will only lighten if you don't heat up the mixture. The heat kills the peroxide in the honey I heat up mine for about 20 seconds in a microwave.

I did an SMT before with Dr Organics conditioner, Asda honey, and holland & barrat aloe gel. It turned out really well. I also added olive oil.

I have one on my head now made up of Asda's own brand 'caring almond' conditioner, holland & barrat aloe gel, olive oil and honey from the Spar... the mix was runnier than usual, and it was really lumpy! I put it on anyway, let's see how this turns out..

AAAAAGH... if your mixture is lumpy... don't put it in your hair! It didn't even feel soft rinsing out at all, and there's stupid little white bits stuck in my hair everywhere! I will go back to doing the SMT I used to do for this...
