Aaah I got my first SMT in my hair right now! I think I overheated it tho, could barely touch it at first, so I guess 10seconds in the microwave would've been enough xD
Gonna leave it in 'till tonight, oh so anxious!
Okay, update: I left it on for just over an hour, and then the shower cap started to bug me. Rinsed out in lukewarm water, followed by an ACV rinse and then a quick shot of almost-cold water. It FELT great when I was rinsing it, but I wanted to wait till it was dry; my hair often feels nice and silky when wet, and then when it dries all sorts of weird things happen.
This. Is. AWESOME. Seriously! My hair is shiny and soft without feeling too too slippery. Even my damaged ends feel good! And the color darkened up nicely too. Hmm...now I am wondering if I can just do this to henndigo?
Regardless, this treatment is a keeper! I love it!

Did the SMT today. 1T. Honey, 1T. FOTE Aloe Vera Gel and 4T GVP Moisturizing Balm. Sat under shower cap for 45 minutes. Rinsed and felt very dry and rough; normally my hair feels soft. I CO only and do not use cones. Took a lot longer to dry than normal and my waves weren't as defined as usual. Hated the way my hair felt so I did another one without honey. MUCH better. My hair apparently hates honey as much as my skin does. But I do like the aloe and conditioner. I will be using that as a deep treatment.
Hmm my hair feels quite dry and rough too! I might do the next one without honey as well, maybe my hair hates it too! I was also thinking about adding come coconut oil.
I've let it sit for 9 hours
Yeah, I think the addition of honey is hit or miss. I'm not really sure I know what the aloe gel does for the hair, but the second treatment was much better.
Awesome! I hope I can say the same thing next week!
I've searched the thread to see if there were any pros/cons on Nature's Gate Aloe Vera Conditioner and didn't find anything. It's the one I've currently got and was thinking of trying it for an SMT. Anyone try this and have any comments? I also am giving up using my WEN Cleansing Conditioner because of the sulfates and cones in it. I suppose I could try it with that just to use it up and not waste it?
Update (a little late) - I really loved how soft my hair was, but became oily by the morning. I think next time I will use a lighter conditioner like suave or V05. I used Biolage's conditioning balm.
Where do you find the correct aloe gel?
i tried publix but couldn't find any
Do you have a Walmart? They carry Fruit of the Earth alongside the obscure hand lotions (NOT in with the suntan lotions).
