    Thumbs up Newbie!!

    Hello Lovelies!!

I am 25 and hailing from Australia.
I have committed so many hair sins and every time I wanted to grow my hair Id get to shoulder length then give up and cut it, do a crazy style or dye it.
I have not treated my hair well at all!!!
Its bleached, dry, there is breakage.... to be honest I am so lucky its still on my head!
I definitely now want to take care of it properly, I want to grow long healthy natural hair - my virgin colour and texture (naturally some curls no more straighteners!) and my current ultimate goal is to my waist. I know this means I will be growing it longer to cut off the current damaged hair, but I do not want to cut my hair now and start fresh Id rather keep growing now and start trimming off the damage.

I am so excited to take this seriously this time!

Im looking up all of your threads and cant wait to start my own hair journal.

Currently sitting with my longest layer past my shoulders so first goal is arm pit length for sure.

    Thanks for reading!!

Hi! Also 25 from Australia here. I started with a short bob, horribly damaged from dye and bleach and now sit at tailbone length still trimming off the damage!
You need to weight up the pros and cons of keeping the damaged length because it could actually hinder your progress. I would suggest growing out the layers, so you would maintain at APL and keep triming till all layers are gone and you're left with a blunt cut, then go on towards waist. I found trying to maintain managed layers meant the longest layers just became very thin and just looked bad from bits breaking off. But as I said it's up to you. Have fun going through the forum!

Welcome. You could take a look at the microtrimming thread and the bleach/dye grow out thread. Cool places to start!

    Good luck on your journey!
