Try rogaine/minoxidil -- generic is fine. I alternate one day miconazole nitrate and then one day with minoxidil.

    They are DHT blockers.

Well, friends, after testing the daktarin for 3 months, I am sorry to report that it did not make my hair grow faster. It may be because I only applied it 2-3 times a week... On the other hand, I noticed a definite improvement in my scalp condition, no itchiness and no gunk, and some baby hairs. So I guess I will be applying it occasionally for that reason, but no faster growth... A pity.

Isn't it true that once you stop using rogaine all the new growth that you got from it just falls out? Thus, you'll have to use it for the rest of your life if you want to keep the new growth you've gained?

And are you saying that MN is a DHT blocker too? If so, where did you find that information?

One of the lady's on the site that is a nurse says miconazole is a DHT blocker.

My doctor told me I'll be using them for the rest of my life and that they are good for my high blood pressure.

I was lazy this week and used too much Miconazole and not enough Rogaine and I got some heavish shed today. I'll be using Rogaine for 2 days.

Bottom line is that family and doctor say I'm winning the war that I've been losing since I was 28 and to keep it up. Scalp is healthy, BP is good, and hair is improving in thickness and coverage.

yes- if you stop after a while of use- you will recive a massive shed fall out. it is all the hairs that have been kinda "saved" from falling out naturally by the dht blocker. you figure you shed lot natually ever day and going several days, weeks, months, what have you it all breaks lose at once- it can be very scary!!!

Well done ljkforu! Losing your hair can be sooo demoralizing, I think it's wonderful that you are plugging away at it and staying postive!

Got my tube of Daktarin today...fingers crossed that it works!

I never heard that about miconazole before. Thanks for verifying.

I think it's great that they are working so well for you, I would just be afraid to use rogaine except expressly for alopecia (instead of for shedding that I didn't know the exact cause of).

I was just thinking, does anyone think that the massage involved in applying the cream to your scalp has as much to do with boosting growth as the cream itself?

Well, maybe not as much, but it promotes blood circulation and that of course promotes hair growth.

Soft hair that is nice to sit on - now I'm bragging!
