A lot of people do! It would likely be okay so long as you aren't chemically damaging your hair or using heat often. You can always stand by a bright light and look at the state of your ends. If you can see white dots or splits, you may need to trim. At longer lengths, you could S&D (search and destroy, aka cutting off individuals split hairs) but that would be trickier to do at your length alone!
    Welcome, and happy growing!

When I was growing it back from losing it to chemo (been Cancer free for nearly five years now, but am still on Letrozole until September of next year, which is the same year I get my driver's license renewed, but that's in July), I didn't get a trim for three years, since there's no way I was getting a trim until it grew back to its former length (mid back range). It's now approaching waist length in a slightly darker color (from strawberry blonde/red to light to medium golden brown), natural, not dyed, since I haven't dyed my hair since 2005, when I dyed it a darker shade of red (since I was still strawberry blonde at the time). I usually get a trim in between six months and a year and a half (have to wait until the no trim challenge is over, even if I have to learn how to do it myself, since I don't trust hairdressers).
No friend requests, please. I won't accept them

I didn't trim from December 2019 to January of this year. I had some splits, but I just left them alone since they didn't bother me too much.

Yep, I tend to only trim when my hemline gets really crazy out of whack. I can get lazy with the trimming. Other than when I'm growing out a pixie like now - I will keep the back trimmed up regularly until the sides catch up, then go into lazy trim mode.

It all depends. You give no further details, though, which is a shame. How long is it? Do you still heat style? All of that matters *hugely* in how long you can go without a trim. And S&D (search & destroy) for splits often helps you go without trims even longer. I have been known to go 1/2 years without one. No problem. I did have perm damage at the time, and it still went okay (but I had to trim from hip to bra strap at the end of that period; the damage had to go at one point).

This is the question that prompted me to join the LHC. I had gone a year without cutting my hair and wondered if that was "okay."
I went four more years after that without any more cutting besides snipping off individual split ends when I saw them (called "search and destroy" or "S & D").
My hemline wasn't even, but my hair was otherwise in good condition.
