My closet is full of black, grey and purple of varying shades. Once in a while I'll do navy or dark brown but not very often.
I used to wear what others gave me or what was cheapest at the thrift store. I actually got in an argument with my mother once when someone asked me my favourite colour in her presence and I replied "purple" and she laughed, said it was blue, and told me to stop lying.
My favourite colour IS purple, so I gave away a lot of my blue clothes and bought a few things I loved in the colour I love!
Then my son was born. Something about his skin tones make off-the-rack baby clothes in traditional pastel blues, pinks, and yellows look hideous so I started sewing and fell in love with earth tones (browns and greens), orange, yellow, and bright primary colours.
Sometimes we dress alike, mostly in "his" colours, but he likes purple too.
