You see, it's all coming back to you isn't it? And you've all just realised you've not seen any of that wool stuff in years....
You can still get the 'marble' things here, they're always called 'bobbles' in the UK
Ohmigosh, yes! My mom put those in my hair all of the time as a kid! (And I'm 20, so don't you be callin' me old!! )
I especially remember a red hair tie she would put in my hair (on Christmas, perhaps?)

My mother put those in my hair. I might get some wool scraps out of my stash and make me some

Fun thread! I was never allowed to have long hair as a kid so no hair tie memories for me. Boo hoo!!! HA HA!!!!!!!!!!
I dont remember those wool hair ties at all! Interesting post though.
I don't remember them either...I do remember the plastic balls though, does anyone remember them? I loved those!

I remember those plastic balls too and had to use them when I was little because I didn't know how to use regular elastic hair ties. Why those were easier is a mystery to me. You could accidentally thump yourself pretty hard with a plastic marble if an over stretched hair tie slipped through your fingers.
I also remember not so little plastic balls in the early 90's. I worked with 5th graders and the girls were wearing them the size of ping pong balls- the more they could work into their hair-do the better.
