i tried both and didn't really like either-- but i'm still looking for a good routine and products for my hair so i can't reccommend anything either. dove made my hair feel dry and crunchy, and the pantene too flat and limp.

Personally I'd run from Pantene because they have tons of harsh stuff in it. It used to be really good years ago when they first came out, but I think they changed their formula and it started killing my hair. I would go with Dove even though I don't know the ingredients. I personally stuck with more natural poos like Avalon and J/a/s/o/n/s.

Is there any particular reason why you're limiting yourself to those two choices?
Which is "better" isn't absolute - it depends on the particular head of hair the product is being applied to. Without more information, the question, and any answers you get, are pretty meaningless.

I would pick neither - both left my hair dry and crunchy, I think both contain cones no? Also, anything with SLS in it is terrible for my scalp, I get very itchy. Why do you choose those two in particular and what do you mean by "best" (just wondering what exactly you are looking for)
ETA: oops, Ursula posted pretty much what I did

I vote Dove. Pantene leaves my hair feeling shrinkwrapped. I'm having a love affair with the Dove Epic Repair blah blah (that's not what it's called; it's the one in the blue bottle).

I second wintersun in choosing neither, i'd give the to cone or not to cone article a good reading.
here's the link http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...e&articleid=13 yep i read some stuff that got me off cones for good. my hair is a lot better now :3 but then again, that's just my hair I've tried both dove and pantene and both of them just left my hair in that blah phase it always was pre-LHC and pre-oiling

I love Dove! I use the moisturizing conditioner almost every time I wash. And I use their shampoo (in the dark blue bottle) once or twice a week.

Neither, Pantene coats the hair and stop moisture getting in and dove dries it out like the sun
