Mine was a bit more yellow. At least the last bit I just used 10 minutes ago was more yellow than yours. It might have been lighter, as in your picture, when it was freshly made.

By the way, the smell gets worse the longer you keep the stuff in the fridge. My soap liquid was in the fridge for 5 days, and boy it smelled bad! I guess I have to make a fresh soap nut liquid for every wash if I want to keep using this stuff.

Yes, the fridge is probably the problem! When I tried it, I pretty much used it the next day.

Well, I think I will give my liquid a try tonight - I hope it works! :-)

Well I tried it last night with the new ratio of 4 nuts to 1 cup water (boiled down to about 2/3 cup liquid). Unfortunately, I have yucky, greasy roots afterward (and they weren't even greasy before I washed, very weird!). However, I didn't do any follow-up rinse. So, this morning, I did an ACV rinse through it. I'll report back once it dries. Here's hoping it helps!

Well, it didn't work again...same greasy roots as I got when I tried it before at the lower ratio (2 nuts per 1 cup water). I posted some photos in my blog and in my photo album, if anyone wants to see. I give up! They work so well on laundry, I'll just stick with them there. :-)

Mellie: I am glad it took so long for my nuts to come because you did all the hard work for me.
I know everyone is different but I have a heck of a problem with my roots going greasy with a poo bar, so I am thinking laundry is were its at for me too.

I have yet to try the whole soapnuts (I did buy some though

), but I find that the powder has a mild pleasant herbal smell, so that might be an option for those who can't stand the smell.

Ah, that's what I wanted to hear. A mild pleasant herbal smell sounds a lot better than the smell of vomit

Mellie, I'm sad soapnuts don't work for you. I still don't understand how they can work so well for me, especially since we made the same kind of liquid. I read this thread through again and it seems your scalp is not nearly as oily as mine, which makes this whole thing even more weird.

Do you have hard or soft water Mellie?

Haha, vomit doesn't appeal to you? That's weird... :-)

I don't think our water is really hard or soft, kind of medium. My scalp is naturally pretty oily, I have to shampoo every few days or the roots get pretty greasy.

It could be that our soapnuts are slightly different ages or from different areas? I don't know...they are doing a great job on my clothes, though! :-)
