Alright! Sounds good! Post pics if you can! :-)
Just reporting back, after a few days now:
-the color is still really dark brown, just as dark as henndigo, just less red
-still ridiculous shine
-really good gray/white coverage. In fact, when I just tried to take a photo of how the color came out on my grays, I couldn't tell the difference between my grays and my browns!
-no pretty Jennifer Aniston coppery blond; because I didn't let it sit overnight first....oh well....
Oh, just wanted to make it clear - the color is dark dark brown with red in it, like henndigo, it just seems maybe a little less red than henndigo. But there definitely is still red. Didn't want to lead anyone astray!
Im glad to hear there is good gray coverage. That is encouraging!
I wonder if one could get bleached highlights put in over this stuff?
I've currently got a few green streaks in my ends from leftover hendigo, I wonder if katam does the same?
That's one experiment I didn't try yet!
I would assume that it would go green just like indigo. It has almost exactly the same color and dyeing properties as indigo from what I can tell from my hair. If I had some bleach kit around, I'd try it for ya!
Thank you for the offer Mellie, I might just get a sample and try it out.
Wouldn't it be great to have the amazing effects of henna/katam but still be able to get a few sunny foils every now and then? That's my dream hair color.
I think my natural color tone is still many shades lighter. I hope the strand test doesn't come out too dark... if it does I may have to shelve the idea for the foreseeable future and simply continue the honey lightening/mayo packs :)
I would say the katam over your henna will definitely make it dark - really dark, like mine. Unless you let it sit overnight first, that might help! Try that in your strand tests.
If you want to go lighter, I'd say definitely try the honey lightening instead (I am going to go back to this myself, this color is so darn dark!). I had really a lot of success with lightening with my Mellie's Mix (see my photo albums) if you want to try that, or use ktani's latest recommendations!
Mellie, I'm still following this with bated breath!
Can I ask you what percentage of grey you have? I ask because your roots seem to be blending in so well with the lengths that I can't really see a demarcation line!
Didn't you get a lighter shade on the greys when you strand tested?
