    Default Buxus dioica AKA katam

    Hmm!

    http://www.mehandi.com/shop/buxus/index.html

Anyone planning on testing this when it comes available? Anyone ever used it before? Are there any other sources?

I don't know if I will try it, now that I'm in like, the perfect henna zone. But honestly, if I had known about this and it had been available six months ago I might not be a redhead today.

    I'm glad I am, though.

But if I do ever need to brown up some, I'm interested in another option. I had various problems with indigo.

First I've heard of it (though not of the genus Buxus, of course). It looks very interesting. I'd like to try some on my beard, which is too red now.

Wow...who knew? I wonder how it's staying power is. And how it looks in the hair. If it leaves it shiny or dull. I think it's hilarious how she describes it. "...will dye hair the color of a garden vole, mouse or canned mushrooms." Canned mushrooms??? I wonder if it would dye darker without the lemon.

Okay, I googled it. Here's an interesting website..complete with a picture of a lady with very nice hair! http://www.hennatribe.com/viewtopic.php?t=2791

    Good information!

I have heard of its use in our religion by our Prophet SAWS but have never knew they have started to sell it,nice. They say it is good to cover greys and make hair a black color..which I am sure is most likely a dark brown. I hope I can get it one day.

I was interested in this link... the bundles Catherine put together might work well for my re-growth... I'm slowly stepping away from henna and finding something that will work to color my sparse grays, but not my brown hair would be nice... hmm

The same thread Blackfoothair posted from HT (http://www.hennatribe.com/viewtopic.php?t=2791)

is the same one I wanted to quote, too. I did some translation work for Olga (the lady with the long hair) and know that her research is sound. Quite a few interesting links there.

I saw the dried leaves and it looked interesting, nothing for me though so I didn't try it...

How is it spelled in Arabic? I'd like to add it to Wiktionary, if it's not there already.

From the hennatribe thread linked above:

qāl rasūl allah, salla allah alayhu wa salam: Inna ahsunu ma ghaiyar bihi ash-schaib al-henna wa al-katam!
    I reckon it is katam?

I think I had read somewhere on H4H that there might be a way to dye hair chocolate brown naturally. So I guess this would be it? I'd be willing to try it, as I have given up on indigo.
