I'm 50/50. With my hairtype and the fact that I colour my hair, waist length is probably more realistic than my goal of tailbone. If I can't make it to tailbone with healthy looking and feeling hair, I'll be quite happy with waist (which I know I can achieve, as I've just about done it before--until I wrecked my hair, yet again) or hip length.
Both. I'm of the vanity camp because I love it long and flowing, the practicality camp because once I can sit on it I don't think I'll want it that long. I *think* I'll be stopping at hip, but if you see me years down the road with hair to my ankles, don't remind me of this.

A bit of both although it is more vanity than practicality. Long hair IS practical when it comes to updos etc.
But that would not be of most importance for me, its just convenient that long hair is somewhat practical also.
I would go miles for vanity though always trying to look my best.
my goal is terminal length simply because i want to know how long my hair will grow.
Vanity is definitely behind my goal length (hip-tbl) also curiosity as I havent had very long hair since I was about 12.
I was about to choose practicality, then I realized my main reason is vanity:
I look short with short hair. D:
But, I guess I'm not so impractical. Another reason that I keep it long is because one friend I used to have cut all her long hair off, and maintenance of it jumped to 20 minutes! I barely even spend time brushing my hair, and I wouldn't like to spend ages in the bathroom.
Should have chosen "a little bit of both".
I guess vanity. I didn't put waist as my goal for practical reasons, anyway. I don't think going very far beyond waist would suit me, but I never thought much about that - I just don't want hair as long as hip.
There is a picture of my great grandmother sitting in a chair with her hair on the floor behind her. So getting my hair as long as it will grow is more of a none of the above thing for me, but for practical reasons I'm not sure how long I'll be able to grow it. If getting it that long means wearing it up all the time, I'm also not sure what the point is.
