hellooo, lhc. i'm a natural lurker and i'm a little self conscious to start come out from hiding 'cause i feel like i'll stick out! especially since i haven't even been lurking that long. but lhc seems sooo friendly and helpful and therefore more welcoming and accepting. :)
i'm no stranger to having long hair, however! i've been growing for about 7 years now. back then, i noticed everyone around me had APL or shorter, so i decided to grow my shoulder length hair out super long and just be different! plus, i was about to start high school, and i thought it'd be cool to have the longest hair in school. and after 4 years of regrettable, daily flat ironing and very minimal trims, i was at about TBL and definitely had the longest hair by the time i graduated! but along my journey, i was never satisfied with my length, and decided to keep growing. my initial goal was just "really long" (lol), but then it became classic, then mid-thigh, then knee length, which i've recently achieved! but as i've mentioned, i used to heat style my hair every day, which resulted in about a foot of damage... but over the recent few years, i gradually starting tweaking my hair routine and treating my hair a little better by washing it differently and drastically limiting the heat styling. and after the few weeks of lurking i've learned sooo much more! and so i hope to continue to gain more tips and advice and stuffs and maybe share a little every now and then. :)
also, i'd like some help in identifying my hair type? these were all taken after blow drying the roots and air drying the rest on wash day. my routine is pretty consistent, although i don't really document every little thing i do. the variety always throws me off, so i'm not quite sure what i am!
(hopefully the picture comes out right)
and here's a bit closer.
