    Default Hi all.

    Hello!

I've always had long hair, past my tailbone (it has only ever been cut once, when I was four. I asked for the haircut and then screamed the house down) and it's recently losing length and condition. I know why - stress, enforced poor diet (moved back home, due to financial reasons I can't even afford my own food), bad hair product choice, and have been trying to rectify these as much as possible (yoga/meditation/growing food/gone to water only wash) and have noticed planty of new growth and my hair has thickened up again, but I want to get my hair back down to my knees. I have no idea what I did when I was younger that got my hair so long, except maybe living in a plait through primary school, and joined to learn more.

Also, what does the 2ii etc refer to and how do I find mine, whatever it is?

    Many thanks~!

    Welcome to LHC!

Here is the visual hairtyping guide, which is what the "2ii" stuff refers to.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and getting all of the nutrients you need. Protective styling (braids, buns) are a great way to help retain length. There is lots of other great advice/ideas here on the forums that you can find by browsing around. Good luck on growing your hair out.

    Oh, brilliant, thank you!

Do I change my details on the profile page, as apparently I'm not authorised to do so?

Here's another one with a similar hair type. Welcome to LHC!

Welcome! Knee length is such a beautiful length to have, IMO. The plait you had might have helped protect your hair a bit but it didn't protect the ends as much as a bun would. But plaits are good for avoiding tangles. Maybe you could learn some buns with hair sticks on here or by youtube and make braided buns. Protecting the ends of your hair is important for growing your hair out and for retaining the growth you have made over time.
