Post Solid Syndets / Non-soap Based Shampoo Bars (mass market)

Big brands are catching up with the growing plastic-free trend, sulfate and sulfate-mild/free alike, much to our delight.

Feel free to share your thoughts on products and add new bars to the list:

Could you mention also which are sulfate or sulfate-free? Or are they all sulfate bars? I'm kinda puzzled now.
WCC method (washing) --- Rinse-out oil (MO) --- LOC/LCO method (styling)

Strongest should be N.A.E., it has SLS after Potassium Lauryl Sulfate, followed by Drogerie Markt and Rossmann's house brands. I think they prefer to use SCS instead of regular sulfates because this one is harsh enough but still makes the Cosmos green certification list. None of them looks like proper shampoo, SCS is regarded as on the edge by some people, better to decide yourself... Except for the products not launched yet, all the linked pages have INCIs in plain text or in pictures.

Good to know, but it is kind of a hassle if I have to click each individual link to find that little bit of information out. Could you mention it in the list itself, pretty please?

Well some of them, like the Love Beauty & Planet bars, are "sulfate free"?

    Rose bar Ingredients:
sodium cocoyl isethionate (plant based ingredients), stearic acid (plant based ingredients), water (eau), sodium isethionate, fragrance (parfum), rosa damascena flower extract (plant based ingredients), astrocaryum murumuru seed butter (plant based ingredients), cocos nucifera (coconut) oil (plant based ingredients), helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed or, sodium chloride, alpha-isomethyl ionone, benzyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate, citronellol, coumarin, hexyl cinnamal, linalool.

Which... kinda sucks for me. As far as I know my scalp/skin don't react well to those Coconut based sulfates/surfactants. I hope more bars will be made with regular sulfates. Like if brands just took the water out of their shampoo formulas to make the bars instead of creating this mutant product lol I feel like it would be more successful. I'd like to have the option of using bars for the environmental impact and such, but not if it messes up my scalp.

Humboldt Soap Company makes some nice-looking detergent-based shampoo bars. Not sure if it counts as mass market.

I'm annoyed that they all want to be "green" by not using regular sulfates. Like, bruh, you're already making a SHAMPOO BAR that's way better than a plastic bottle you already get a gold star from me. Now gimme my sulfates plEASE. Plenty of people still need them!

Lush's solid shampoo bars are sulfate based. Pretty strong from what I've heard, not used them personally.
I've not used any mass market syndet bars but I do buy from etsy and quite like them.

LUSH had at least one SLS free, it was a limited edition called POSH. I bought it, I still have it. I think I did oil masks around that time and well, you know. I might use it later but my roots are oily even without a mask.

Back in the day, I started with their New shampoo bar, it took off everything other shampoos didn't so it was a new experience (pun intended). It also caused itchiness on my bald spot sometimes. The one I mentioned above was meh. Now I use another limited edition called Snow Fairy. I hate the amount of perfume they pack them with. After the first use, I had to evacuate the shampoo bar from my tiny bathroom because I couldn't bear the intense cotton candy scent. I guess it was badly mixed or something because later this problem disappeared. I also bought two more bars since it was limited and one of those was ok too (the third is unused). I wouldn't call it ideal but good enough for me for now (easily among the best I've used, otherwise, well, I wouldn't be using it).
