Default Hello! This forum is a fantastic discovery

    Hello everyone!
I found this forum the other day while browsing for more ideas for buns.
After ten years of dyeing and bleaching my hair out of boxes, (and then getting fed up with the upkeep and dyeing it back to black,) I've managed to resist bleaching it for a year and swapped to oil based dye.
Turns out waist length isn't terminal for me!
It's juuuuust reached BCL, and I wondered what the best thing to do is to keep it a bit protected so that it can grow longer?
The front third or so is at APL because for some unknown reason I cut it into an above the jaw bob in 2018 while leaving the back long
I'm looking forward to learning new styles!

Hi and welcome! You'll see as you browse around that a lot of the members like to oil their ends and wear protective hairstyles (me included) to help prevent breakage and/or mechanical damage. I gave up bleach a year ago and although I miss it, I could never reach the lengths I wanted while using it. Glad you found a good alternative!

A french braid is good for hair with different lengths. You can even bun the tail for more protection too.

Thankyou! Oiling the ends sounds like a great idea, they have a tendency to poke out from buns like the legs of a starfish

Hello! Yes, I've been eyeing up some hairsticks for when I'm next treating myself, and I suspect it will be the start of a collection!

Thankyou! I'll probably try a French braid overnight, the front likes to escape from my normal sidebraid and tangle up

Welcome to the forum! I know I could have never grown my hair to great lengths without using buns to protect it during the day and a silk sleep cap for sleeping in. Happy growing!

Thankyou! I hadn't thought of using something to wrap up my hair while I sleep, I'll keep a look out for something suitable!
