    Default Ficcare Mini-maximus

I was "just looking" on the ficcare site today and saw the mini-maximus, which come in sets of TWO! Does anyone have these for half-ups? I have very fine hair, a half up fits comfortably in a flexi-8 extra-small, for comparison.

What do you think? Could I do a twisted half-up with a mini-maximus? Please enable me! ;-)

I had a pair and they are not even an inch long each and only hold a few wisp of hair. They also have no teeth on the inside. Overall they stink.

    Lora-

I was afraid of the "only holding a few wisps of hair" problem. I think I will NOT order for now. You have more wave than me, and are a little thicker, but teeth are key for me. . . Have you found a ficcare that you can use for a half up?

    Thanks-

My sentiments exactly. I ordered the topaz, and they were tiny, beautiful....and useless I found it hard to open the jaws wide enough to get enough hair in to make them hold.

About the only thing you could use them for were, as you say, the few wisps that fall out of a ponytail and even then, snap clips would be more comfortable.

Thanks for the confirmation. Being ficcares, I'm sure they are lovely. . . But I need function. Any suggestions on what might hold a half up in a twist? (Flexi-8's hold a 1/2 up, but not a twist. . . )

    Thanks!

I use the little claw clips for them. I like the ones made by Karina. They are stronger and don't stick out as much. You can get them at Ulta if you have one near you and CVS used to carry them but are in the midst of discontinuing them if I am not mistaken. I agree about the mini-maximas. I sold mine. They are cute but useless. I wish they made some a bit bigger and with the teeth.

I will have to check out ULTA next time I am in town - there is one "sort of" near. . . I've tried a few claw clips that scratch my head - maybe my scalp is particularly wimpy, or maybe I just don't have "flat" clips. . . I'll see what I can find - good suggestion - thanks!

I bought some mini maximas and this size will not hold up a half do even for fine hair. Here are two pictures to get an idea of the size (my hands fairly small). I think they are meant to hold up a little bit of hair on the sides of your head.

    Vianka-

WOW - those are TINY but beautiful. I don't see how that would hold a 1/2 up, though. . . I would need much larger AND some "teeth" for gripping. Thanks for the pictures!

You all saved me a big purchase that would not have worked for what I had hoped - thanks!

I have a pair, but don't know where it is now (probably it fell in a crack of the bed). They hold about the same amount of hair as a mini Flexi, which is smaller than an extra-small, which I use to hold the hair at my temples. I've also used them to hold the end of each of two braids to the base of the other.
