A bit of both although it is more vanity than practicality. Long hair IS practical when it comes to updos etc.
But that would not be of most importance for me, its just convenient that long hair is somewhat practical also.
I would go miles for vanity though always trying to look my best.
my goal is terminal length simply because i want to know how long my hair will grow.
Vanity is definitely behind my goal length (hip-tbl) also curiosity as I havent had very long hair since I was about 12.
I was about to choose practicality, then I realized my main reason is vanity:
I look short with short hair. D:
But, I guess I'm not so impractical. Another reason that I keep it long is because one friend I used to have cut all her long hair off, and maintenance of it jumped to 20 minutes! I barely even spend time brushing my hair, and I wouldn't like to spend ages in the bathroom.
Should have chosen "a little bit of both".
I guess vanity. I didn't put waist as my goal for practical reasons, anyway. I don't think going very far beyond waist would suit me, but I never thought much about that - I just don't want hair as long as hip.
There is a picture of my great grandmother sitting in a chair with her hair on the floor behind her. So getting my hair as long as it will grow is more of a none of the above thing for me, but for practical reasons I'm not sure how long I'll be able to grow it. If getting it that long means wearing it up all the time, I'm also not sure what the point is.
I'm mostly vanity, with some practicality. I love the look of long hair, and all the styles one can do. However, I'm a spazztic person, and I have a messy job (I'm a nursing assistant) so I can't have my hair getting in the way or causing me any troubles.
Loved it short, loving it long, looking forward to longer.
I vote all vanity but I reliase there is some practicality. For work it's great to be able to put my hair in a bun or pony tail to get it out of my face. It's annoying when you get hair in your face.
When my hair was just below chin length it always got in the way, I could not do anything with it! Will never go back to that length again!
I voted a little of both.
When my hair was around APL it was very practical. It was long enough to let me put it up yet not so long that it was annoying down. I could dye it, blow dry it and all around abuse it but because I got it trimmed more regularly (and then ends weren't as old) the hair looked very healthy. If I was going just for practicality then I would have stayed there.
My goal is around hip or TBL but it isn't really how long it looks when down that I care about (since I don't wear my hair down much). I was big buns....wait let me rephrase that, I want large up-dos. I think hip or tbl length hair will give me a decent bun, especially if/when the ends thicken up.
I can't imagine having hair long enough to sit on but if I get to tbl with thick ends who knows. I tend to just put my hair up and ignore it so anything is possible.
