PM/New Post/Profile Page Problems

Sorry for posting this here, but I can't start new threads on this laptop:/
What's really annoying is that I can't send PMs. I can reply to them, but can't send one unless I've received one first. I also keep having to refresh the page to see new posts that I know are there because some of them are mine. It's the same for profile page comments.
If anyone can help/make a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried:
Logging out,
clearing cookies,
restarting your computer,
logging back in again?

Probably won't make a difference but worth a try.

ETA: Did you used to be able to start threads and this is a new problem or has it always been like that? And have you tried using a different browser (eg Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari etc)?

And what kind of firewall are you using, are there any settings that might interfere? Sometimes they're pretty strict and need to be tweaked.

What exactly does happen when you try to start a new thread? Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say?
